Today I went to the Chamorro Village Night Market, held every Wednesday. It gets busy as soon as it opens at 5:30 PM.
There’s parking right by Chamorro Village, but it’s always full on market night. There’s plenty of parking across the street, so if you’re driving a rental car, just park there and walk over.
As you enter, you’ll find a central courtyard where you can eat or rest.
Just past the entrance are stalls selling accessories.
Walking on, you’ll pass a BBQ restaurant — no customers yet when I went by.
Further in, there are all kinds of food stalls and food trucks.
The whole market is food and souvenirs. With so many cute items and tasty eats, it’s a lot of fun, especially on your first visit.
You’ll also find drinks and corn dogs, plus a stall selling coconut candy and giant turkey legs. I saw people digging into them — if you want to feel like a successful hunter, give one a try!
There are also shops selling T-shirts with the Guam logo, Island-style shirts, and dresses. There are lots of these shops, so it pays to compare before you buy.
For kids, there’s a climbing wall and some rides. The climbing wall seemed especially popular.
This area also has drink and food stalls, and it looks like Pacific Islands Club (PIC) coupons are accepted. If you’re staying at PIC, take advantage of them.
The most famous stall is Chris BBQ. They grill so much that the smoke practically blocks the view, and it draws the biggest crowds. There are two Chris BBQ stalls at the market, so head to whichever has the shorter line. I got 10 pork BBQ skewers to take home.
This stall sells coconuts and drinks, and the coconuts are a big hit. Once you’ve finished the coconut water, they’ll cut the flesh into bite-size pieces. It’s really delicious when dipped in wasabi soy sauce. If you’ve never tried it, you should!
That was the Chamorro Village Night Market, held every Wednesday. If your Guam trip includes a Wednesday, it’s well worth a visit. It was rainy the day I went, and it was still packed. It gets hot and crowded, so wear something comfortable.
