Hafa adai,

I woke up early to visit the Dededo flea market.
It’s held every Saturday and Sunday morning in Dededo, and it’s definitely a
place you should check out if you get the chance.

It’s about a 10-minute drive from Tumon. Since
it’s a weekend morning, the roads are relatively clear, making for an easy
drive.

From Tumon, head out to Marine Drive and
turn left. After passing Micronesia Mall, you’ll see a Mobil gas station; turn
left there to reach the morning market. You should be able to find it easily as
you notice more cars in this area.

The parking lot isn’t paved, and there are
no marked parking spaces. You can park in any available spot, even if it’s a
bit crooked.

There are already plenty of stalls set up
by around 6 a.m., but the best time to go is between 7 and 8 a.m. On this
particular day, the weather was nice, and by 7 a.m., it was bustling with
people.

The fresh vegetables and fruit section is
popular among the locals, featuring plenty of tropical offerings.

There are also souvenir shops for tourists.

You can find shops selling T-shirts and
tropical dresses, which are definitely cheaper than in the shops in Tumon.

One stall even offered fresh coconuts that
they cracked open for you to drink the juice right there.

Both locals and tourists love the food
stands and food trucks, offering barbecue, hamburgers, sandwiches, hot dogs,
tropical fruit juices, and freshly brewed coffee.

You can also enjoy affordable Asian foods
like Filipino rice porridge (arroz caldo) and Taiwanese desserts (douhua).

The morning market is a weekend-only
delight. If you’re spending your weekend in Guam, be sure to check it out!
