Book a Car

Insurance & Coverage

Guam rental companies split “insurance included in the rate” and “optional coverage” in different ways, so comparing daily rates alone can be misleading once coverage is added. Here are four points to check when comparing, along with the coverage for the cars you can book on this site.

Adding coverage is a good idea, just in case.

Whichever company you rent from, an accident without coverage means paying the full repair cost and more, which can add up quickly. We recommend comparing prices with coverage included.

4 points to compare

  1. Liability limits included in the rate: how much is paid for injuries to others (bodily injury) and damage to their vehicles or property (property damage).
  2. CDW deductible and conditions: the most you pay yourself after an accident, and which accidents are covered.
  3. Zero-deductible option (ZDW): whether you can waive even that deductible.
  4. Non-Operation Charge: how much you are billed for the time the car is being repaired, and whether a waiver (NOC) is available.

Coverage for cars booked on this site

① Liability protection included in the rate (LP)

Bodily injury Per person $100,000
Per accident $300,000
Property damage Per accident $50,000

② CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)

The deductible is $1,000 and repairs are covered up to $50,000. It applies only to collisions between two vehicles when both have a driver. A police accident report is required, and if repairs cost $1,000 or less you pay the actual cost. Price per 24 hours: $17.00 for AS / A class, $22.00 for RV / F / W / LA class.

③ ZDW (Zero Deductible Waiver)

Available. It waives the $1,000 CDW deductible and can be added only with CDW. Price: $10.00 / 24 hrs.

④ Non-Operation Charge and NOC

If the car needs repairs after an accident, you are billed $250 if it can still be driven and rented to the next customer, or $400 if not. NOC ($7.00 / 24 hrs) waives this charge.

Fees charged separately from coverage

A $150 accident processing fee applies to every accident, regardless of fault.

It covers police reports, certificates for insurers and repair shops, and the related paperwork. Traffic fines also carry a $100 service charge.

What is not covered

You pay for any amount above the coverage limits, accidents excluded by the insurance terms, accidents or use that violate the rental agreement, losses from theft, and damage for which no police report can be obtained.

Not covered by any option (regardless of fault)

  1. Reckless driving, drunk driving, or using a phone or other device while driving.
  2. Damage to windows.
  3. Theft of the car, vandalism, and stolen belongings.
  4. Accidents or damage caused by a driver not listed on the rental agreement.
  5. Traffic fines and the related service charge ($100).
  6. Any new scratch or damage found at return, however small, incurs the accident processing fee ($150).
  7. Towing costs after an accident.
  8. Leaving the scene of an accident.
  9. Damage to or loss of tires, wheels, wheel covers or keys, and the related service charges.
  10. Accidents or damage not reported to the police right away at the scene (no accident report number).
  11. Damage from typhoons or other natural disasters.

When CDW does not apply

  1. Reckless driving, driving on hazardous roads, or driving while using a phone or other device.
  2. Hitting an object while driving, or new damage that occurs while the car is left unattended.
  3. The car is a total loss due to your negligence.
  4. The car is stolen.
  5. The accident was not reported to us.
  6. The other car’s license plate number was not recorded, or the vehicle inspection had expired.
  7. The other driver does not have a valid license.
  8. Driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
