Pay-Less Supermarkets is Guam’s homegrown supermarket chain. I visited the OKA store in Tamuning, which is open 24 hours — very handy. Besides this one, there are eight other locations around the island, including Micronesia Mall and Maite.
Here’s what you see right as you walk in.
The far-right aisle has all kinds of drinks, from water to beer. Just keep in mind that stores in Guam can’t sell alcohol from 2 AM to 8 AM.
Wine and spirits are on this shelf.
The meat section is at the very back, with beef, pork, and chicken in all kinds of cuts.
They also carry frozen dumplings from Korea and Japan — handy if your room has a microwave.
Ice cream in the freezer case.
Instant rice and cup noodles.
You can also pick up over-the-counter medicine if you need it.
Vegetables and fruits for salads.
Right past the checkout, there’s a café called “Infusion” where you can take a break after shopping. Pay-Less is handy for travelers, too, and you might find some great souvenirs, so be sure to stop by.
