How do I pump gas at a Guam gas station?

Most gas stations in Guam are self-service. Here's how it works, step by step.

First, park at a pump marked “Self Serve.” “Full Serve,” where an attendant pumps the gas for you, costs more, so go with self-service. Fill up with regular unleaded. At Shell stations in Guam, it's sold as “Shell FuelSave” (“V-Power” is premium and “Diesel” is diesel). Nozzle colors vary from station to station, so go by the label.

Tell a nearby attendant or the cashier inside your pump number and that you want to “fill up.” Open the fuel door, take off the cap, lift the nozzle off the pump and raise the lever, and you're ready. Put the nozzle in the tank and squeeze the handle to start pumping.

When the tank is nearly full, a sensor stops the pump automatically. That's your signal that you're done. Don't squeeze the handle again to top off: it can spill fuel and harm the vapor-control systems in the car or the pump. Hang the nozzle back up when you're finished.

Pay right there at the station (1 gallon is about 3.8 liters). Gas prices change often, so the price can't be quoted in advance; check it at the station. The staff will tell you where to find a gas station when you pick up the car. Shell is the recommended place to fill up in Guam.
